Feb. 25, 11:43 a.m., North Avalon Drive: Police received a report that a resident’s car was keyed overnight. The resident also passed on possible suspect information to police.

Bike theft

Feb. 17, McKenzie Park: A Menlo Park resident who stopped to use the restroom at McKenzie Park during an afternoon ride reported that his bicycle, valued at an estimated $8,000, had been stolen while he was in the bathroom.

Police spokesman Sgt. John Korges said the victim had not locked up his yellow and gold Colnago road bike.

One dead in Mtn. View car wreck

Mountain View police discovered a charred body in the wreckage of a burned vehicle early Feb. 24 on eastbound Central Expressway just east of Bernardo Avenue.

According to police, officers arrived at approximately 1 a.m. to find the car engulfed in flames. Police found one deceased person inside the car after the fire was extinguished.

Preliminary investigation leads officers to believe the 2007 BMW left the roadway and hit a tree before catching fire.

Thus far, no witnesses have been located. The identity and gender of the deceased driver are unknown.

Investigators ask witnesses to contact the Mountain View police at 903-6344.
