The Palo Alto Clay & Glass Festival is scheduled 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road.
The event annually attracts thousands of people. There will be 175 artists displaying a range of traditional and contemporary handcrafted clay and glass art. The festival also features live demonstrations and hands-on art activities designed for the whole family. Highlights include:
â€¢ A wide range of value-priced pieces – both functional and decorative – will be on display, from massive stoneware urns to fused-glass pendants.
â€¢ An exhibit featuring traditional and contemporary objects that reflect global and colloquial trends in artistic expression.
â€¢ "Clay For All" workshops where attendees can create their own ceramic pieces.
â€¢ Demonstrations of "Ikebana" Japanese floral arrangement and pottery wheelthrowing.
â€¢ Artists using eco-friendly materials and sustainable practices.
