The Aurora Singers’ winter concert, “Deck the Holidays,” is scheduled 7 p.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto, 505 E. Charleston Road.
The 66-voice choir will perform traditional carols, send-ups of three “Nutcracker” tunes, a gospel-style “Hallelujah” and lend novel rhythms to Handel’s “Messiah.” The program includes songs by director Dawn Reyen and Aurora member Barbara Leeds, and runs the gamut from Handel’s “For Unto Us a Child Is Born” to Vince Guaraldi’s mellow “Christmas Time Is Here,” from the TV special “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” There will be sing-along segments and a post-concert reception.
The Aurora Singers are men and women, teens to octogenarians, who reside in and around Palo Alto. Formed in 1988, the non-profit group entertains locally and internationally, performing at area retirement homes and as far as Albi, France.
Tickets to Saturday’s concert are $9 general admission and $7 children, students and seniors.
