Born February 21, 1941, in Astoria, Oregon, Brian enjoyed growing up in this beautiful coastal town. He attended Astoria High School where he was an accomplished athlete in football, basketball, and track. He graduated from Oregon State and then went on to Stanford Medical School. He returned to the University of Oregon for his internship and residency, then came back to California to complete a fellowship in Gastroenterology. A
dedicated physician, Brian spent his entire career at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. He exercised great skill, compassion, and diligence in taking care of his patients. His co-workers had the highest regard for Brian and loved him. He was always kind, gentle, and patient in working with them.
Brian was an active member of Abundant Life Christian Fellowship. He served on the Cancer Support group, Communion Team, and the Prayer Ministry. He loved God. It showed in how he loved his family and cared about his friends. His quiet spirit was
admirable, and he inspired many.
His great passion was the outdoors. He was an accomplished trekker who scaled such peaks as Mt. Rainer and Killamajaro. He was also a back-packer in the mountainous areas he loved. With enthusiasm and a friend who was willing, he would sometimes
make trails of his own.
Brian is predeceased by his father, Ruben Eric Paaso, and his brother, Warren Paaso. Brian is survived by his loving wife, Molly, of 43 years; his two daughters, Tracy and Kristine Paaso; and his mother Elma Meyers. He died peacefully in the comfort of his home on April 15, 2011 with his loving family at his side. He heroically battled multiple myeloma for six years. He will forever be missed by those who loved him.
A Celebration of Brianʼs life will be held on Saturday, June 18th at Abundant Life Christian Fellowship, 2440 Leghorn St., Mountain View, CA 94043 at 1:00 p.m.
