Anthony Aram "Tony" Manoukian, has passed away at age 58 after a short illness.　 He was born May 21, 1952 in Chicago, to Dr. Manasseh and Elize Manoukian.　 He became a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan for life, despite admonition from his brothers that the Giants and 49ers are superior.　 In 1960 the family moved to Los Altos Hills where Tony attended Hillview and Purissima elementary schools, Covington Jr. High and Los Altos High School.　 Tony attended University of California, Davis earning a BS in zoology.
The ensuing several years involved travel to Kansas City, and to Minneapolis where Tony earned a graduate degree in public health from the University of Minnesota.　 In 1983, Tony began medical school at St. George's University in Grenada.　 He was evacuated during the US invasion of Grenada in October 1983 but returned there to complete his medical degree.
Tony completed a pathology residency in Honolulu and a Forensic Pathology fellowship in Baltimore, returning to Hawaii for his current position at Maui Memorial Hospital.　 He was one of very few forensic pathologists in the Pacific basin.　 He served as Medical Examiner for Maui and several other islands.
Tony worked with the Hawaii Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) and the Federal Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team (DMORT) to provide assistance to disaster areas including a tsunami in Samoa, Hurricane Katrina and post-earthquake Haiti.　 His invaluable aid to the Maui Police Department and the Pacific medical community earned him much love and respect.　 As a colleague of his commented, "I don't think there's a person on this island that he hasn't helped".
Tony will be sorely missed by his loving family and many, many friends. 　He is survived by his wife Downey Rugtiv Manoukian, brothers Pete (Patricia), Jerry (Mariam) and Phil (Sally), and many nieces and nephews.　 　A celebration of Tony's large life is planned.
