Regarding the Nov. 18 article, “Opponents offer 3-phase plan to halt cement plant”: I want to know what Bill Almon has planned to replace the cement produced by the plant. Mr. Almon obviously prefers cement from overseas operations, many of which run with absolutely no regulations at all. Also, the pollution to push the barges here. Cement is used in almost every structure built. Every bridge, highway, hospital, government, school. Mr. Almon should go a month with not using any structure built with cement, this would likely include his home. Wake up, Mr. Almon – Clean Cement

Regarding the recent announcement of Tim Justus retiring as Los Altos School District superintendent: Pay attention everyone! There is only one person that I know in the LASD team who has the management skills and sensitivity to be superintendent, and that is Leslie Crane. She cleaned up Covington in 2004 soon after the school re-opened, brought order and respect to the campus, and could have a compassionate conversation with every single student. – Richard
