Maltby's bartending benefits relay

Maltby's Restaurant and Tavern has invited Bill Campbell of Campbell Construction and Gary Campi of Campi Properties to bartend 5-8 tonight. Proceeds from their guest bartending will benefit Los Altos efforts toward the American Cancer Society benefit, "Relay For Life."Cindy Luedtke and Steve Shepherd of The Bank of Los Altos will take a turn June 2, followed by Dara Rip, a board member of the American Cancer Society, June 9.'Customs and Costumes' exhibitThe History Museum's current exhibit "Timeless Weddings: Customs and Costumes" will run through Sept. 12. The exhibit showcases the last 100 years of wedding gown and ceremony history, featuring representative costumes and accessories from the 1890s to the present. This exhibit will provide visitors with a glimpse of the fashions of the times and cultural influences that shaped trends of the past. Traditional wedding cake recipes from featured weddings in the Los Altos area will be the icing on the cake for what is sure to be an exhibit to please everyone.The museum is open noon to 4 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, and is located at 51 S. Wine event at CSMA

The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) at Finn Center is offering a cultural evening of wine, food, art and conversation with "Wine and Civilization: Wines Rich Relationship with the Arts."The special event will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, at CSMA in Mountain View.The program features wine tasting, a reception and lively illustrated lecture by wine historian Nina Wemyss on the origins of wine and its relationship to art in social history.Wines included in the programs tasting come from Bonny Doon, Clos La Chance, Ridge, Robert Mondavi and Swanson wineries. Food to complement the tasting will be from such leading restaurants as Chef Chus, Evvia Estiatorio, Los Altos Grill and Zucca Ristorante.The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) at Finn Center is a non-profit center for arts education committed to providing arts for all, regardless of age, level, background or economic means.Tickets are $50 each. Event capacity is 200 attendees. Proceeds will benefit CSMA arts and music education programs. Volunteers needed for Partners in Caring

The Stanford University Chaplaincy Office invites volunteers to provide practical and emotional support to community members who are homebound. Opportunities include friendly visiting, essential transportation, shopping and meal assistance.Training and ongoing education are required.For more information, call 723-5101.

E-mail notification at Los Altos library

The Santa Clara County Library can send notices, such as titles of holds and overdue notices, to patrons via e-mail.To sign up for e-mail notification, patrons may obtain a form at the Los Altos main library reference desk and turn it in at the circulation desk.At the Woodland branch library, patrons should ask at the circulation desk.Patrons who sign up will no longer receive such notices through the post office.

Volunteers needed by service agency

The Community Services Agency needs volunteers to work one to two hours a week to help provide food to local low-income families and the homeless. Volunteer work would include the pickup and delivery of donated food from local markets to the agency's Food and Nutrition Center.
