The Bay Area Air Quality Management district announced that today is a Spare the Air Day, a notification meaning the agency thinks air quality will be unhealthy. Temperatures in Los Altos are expected to hit a high of 89 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The air district advises people reduce driving, using oil-based paints, gasoline-powered lawn mowers, or household aerosol products like hair sprays. Those sensitive to unhealthy air are advised to limit their time outdoors, particularly in the afternoon hours.
