legislators to ignore their own political interest in drawing lines? The result has been gerrymandered districts that contort geography and logic. We should draw lines on neutral, nonpartisan criteria. If the district lines are drawn by a neutral nonpartisan process, then we'll elect representatives who can't take their re-election for granted. That will result in more representatives capable of working across the aisle and that should do a great deal to end the stalemate."
