The Los Altos School of Trustees voted unanimously Monday night to appoint Covington parent and long-time district participant Steven Taglio to fill the interim one-year position vacated by Margot Harrigan.
"I put an awful lot of importance on the fact that Steve has been to the past two and a half years of board meetings," said Board President Bill Cooper. "He has heard us walk through the major issues we have dealt with in the last five years."
Taglio has been the Covington PTA president for the past two years. He has served as head of the school’s Technology Committee and as a member of the Site Council.
Taglio’s son attends Los Altos High and his daughter is in her final year at Covington.
“I am personally vested in the success of our schools and would like the opportunity to ensure that we continue to provide the best possible educational experience for the children of Los Altos,” he wrote in his application.
Taglio will serve in the interim seat until the next regularly scheduled election in November 2012. The term of the appointment is Dec. 5 to December 2012.
