Staff members at Blach Intermediate School are looking to recover this mural, stolen last month on campus. Blach Principal Leslie Crane is asking that anyone with information call the attendance line (which is answered by a machine, not a person) to leave an anonymous message: (650) 934-3838.
As part of its tradition, Blach displays student renditions of famous paintings on its walls. This particular mural, created by student Pooja Kathail, was of Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer's Apprentice directing the heavens. The mural hung on the wall between the music room and chorus/drama room.
Valerie Lipinski, the teacher supervising the murals, said “Pooja did an amazing job of shading and rendering the perfect colors. The painting took her at least 20 hours to complete. It was a labor of love by Pooja, which makes its loss such a shame.”
