Weigh in on Los Altos' proposed Safeway plans by Monday

Los Altos’ downtown Safeway, slated for renovation, may nearly double in size, so city officials are reviewing the project’s environmental impact. Residents can read the initial findings and weigh in – will the new project impact local drivers, pedestrians and cyclists?

Safeway’s Transportation Impact Analysis finds that the proposed First Street project “will not significantly impact the roadway, pedestrian, bicycle, or transit network near the project site.”

Read the documents yourself online or in person at city hall or the Los Altos main library. The Los Altos Planning Commission is scheduled to review the study at its meeting 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at city hall.

Will the new parking plan, which includes 154 vehicle spaces, meet increased demand? Readers can respond to the city in writing, and weigh in via a comment below.
