Police Blotter

New crime Web site

The Los Altos Police Department has begun providing its crime reports online in partnership with the Web site www.crimereports.com. The free site, accessible to all residents, can be set to provide regular e-mail alerts.

The Web site overlays recent crimes on a map of Los Altos using color-coded icons. A column on the left-hand side provides details about the crimes listed. On a recent day, the map was largely dominated by blue icons, which indicate thefts and burglaries.
