Two municipal projects will slow traffic in parts of Los Altos this weekend.
The Fremont Avenue bridge closes to vehicles for one day Saturday (Feb. 15), with the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. closure stretching from Hazelaar Way to Miramonte Avenue. The day's work involves preparatory tree trimming, tree removal and other preparatory work in advance of the Fremont Bridge replacement project, which is scheduled to begin later this year.
Annual sewer main repairs, now almost complete on Springer, extend to El Camino Real Friday (Feb. 14). One lane will be closed for site preparatory work 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Tuesday (Feb. 17) between Sherwood and Ortega Avenues.
The same project resumes a week later, running Feb. 21-24. Southbound traffic, restricted to one lane during that time-span, will see limited access at the Showers and Jordan Avenue intersections, including for drivers exiting Whole Foods. The city recommends that motorist who can avoid that stretch of El Camino Real do so during that weekend
