Los Altos Police arrested a Mountain View resident Thursday on multiple charges after a solo drunk driving crash killed a passenger in his car.

Police and Santa Clara County Fire responders arrived at the crash site on Fremont Avenue and Marymeade Lane at 11:07 p.m. and found a 2005 Chevrolet with extensive damage on its passenger side and a passenger gravely injured.

Emergency medical personnel declared the 27-year-old male passenger – a Mountain View resident – dead at 11:15 p.m. on scene. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Tai-Jin Lee.

The driver of the vehicle, 33-year-old Miroslav Samardzija, was able to exit the car wreck and was later transported to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, according to police. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by Los Altos Police and the joint Palo Alto/Los Altos Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction team.
