March 18, 11:47 a.m., 1600 block of Austin Avenue: A pit bull escaped from a home on Austin Avenue and attacked a resident walking her small dog. Police reported that the small dog sustained major injuries as a result of the attack and was taken to a veterinary hospital in Campbell for treatment. The owner also sustained multiple bites on her hands while attempting to fend off the pit bull and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Animal Control officers from Palo Alto Animal Services took custody of the pit bull.
Felony warrant arrest
March 19, 10:26 a.m., 1 N. San Antonio Road: A Los Altos Police detective arrested a 20-year-old man on an outstanding $500,000 warrant for robbery out of Sunnyvale. The detective recognized the suspect when he parked in front of the Los Altos Police Station to pick up an acquaintance on an unrelated matter. The police arrested him without incident and booked him into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
Residential burglary attempt
March 19, 2:17 p.m., 1400 block of Brookmill Road: An unknown suspect kicked in an outside door leading to a bathroom but quickly left after triggering the home’s alarm system. No items were taken.
March 19, 8:21 a.m., 700 block of Brentwood Court: An unknown suspect entered a home construction site overnight, used a blowtorch to cut the lock to a storage unit on-site and stole an unknown number of construction tools.
March 19, 12:11 p.m., 300 block of South El Monte Avenue: An unknown suspect pried open a door and ransacked the home, stealing jewelry.
March 21, 2:37 p.m., 1000 block of Parma Way: A resident reported that an unknown individual’s cellphone was added to her private account.
March 23, 11:10 a.m., 5300 block of Beechwood Lane: A resident contacted police to report that someone taped several catalog pages depicting children on vehicles. No damage was reported.
March 23, 2:00 p.m., 1500 block of Oak Avenue: A Foothill Covenant Church official contacted police to report graffiti found on church grounds.
