Los Altos man arrested for arson

Mountain View police last week arrested a Los Altos man and his female acquaintance for causing an auto shop fire in January.

Police arrested Los Altos resident Paul Schonhardt, 28, and San Jose resident Angela Rutledge, 28, on charges that include arson of property and possession of controlled substances, specifically methamphetamines.

The arrests came after an early-morning fire Jan. 13 at Pedro’s Auto Clinic at 1080 Terra Bella Ave. Responders at the scene of the single-alarm fire discovered three vehicles at the rear of the property completely engulfed in flames. No one was injured.
