Two SF men charged in Los Altos burglary
Two men have been formally charged for a mid-October home burglary in Los Altos, according to Los Altos Police.
The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office filed first-degree burglary charges Nov. 4 against 20-year-old Dennis J. Windham and 23-year-old Andre Marcell Clark – both San Francisco residents – for burglarizing a Cristo Rey Place home Oct. 18. Bail was set at $250,000 for each man.
The men allegedly entered the unlocked Los Altos home between 10:30 a.m. and noon, stealing an undisclosed amount of electronics and jewelry.
Los Altos Police Sgt. Scott McCrossin told the Town Crier that information received the same day led investigators to believe that the suspects fled to Oakland. A surveillance video obtained by Los Altos investigators in Oakland later allowed them to identify the suspects in possession of stolen items from the Los Altos home.
“We were very pleased to have located the suspects in such a short amount of time,” McCrossin noted.
The suspects were in custody at Elmwood Correctional Facility on an unrelated crime by the time charges in the Los Altos case were filed.
According to several published reports, Morgan Hill and San Jose police arrested the suspects Oct. 22 following a car chase that ended when the pair crashed into a vehicle near Highway 101 and Capitol Expressway. The car chase from Morgan Hill to San Jose began after police responded to a report of a home burglary and witnessed the suspects’ vehicle driving away from the scene of the crime.
