Misdemeanor warrant arrest

July 11, 6:46 a.m., Distel Circle and El Camino Real: Police arrested a 25-year-old transient after discovering that he had an outstanding $5,000 warrant out of Mountain View for obstructing a police officer.

Residential burglaries

July 11, 12:37 p.m., Eleanor Avenue: An unknown suspect entered the residence through an unlocked garage side door, stealing jewelry and electronics.

July 11, 5:56 p.m., 100 block of East Portola Avenue: A burglar entered through an unlocked garage side door and stole a bicycle.

July 11, 9:15 p.m., 2400 block of Cristo Rey Place: Homeowners contacted police to report that their two cars were stolen. The homeowners later learned that a 15-year-old family friend took the cars as a prank. They declined to file a police report.

Fraud

July 12, 10:40 a.m., 100 block of First Street: A downtown merchant contacted police after discovering that someone stole eight checks from the business and cashed them for a total of $6,300.

Misdemeanor warrant arrest

July 13, 11:45 a.m., 200 block of Second Street: Police arrested a 55-year-old motorist on an outstanding $3,000 warrant out of Sunnyvale for reckless driving. The arrest came after the motorist moved a barricade and parked his vehicle inside the grounds of the Arts & Wine Festival. Police found the man sleeping in his car upon initial contact.

Drunk in public arrests

July 13, 2:37 p.m., Main Street: Police arrested two men – a 37-year-old male from Alviso and a 42-year-old San Jose man – for being drunk in public. The arrests came after police received numerous calls from festivalgoers about the two men – who are related – for exhibiting rowdy behavior. Both men were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Meth possession arrest

July 13, 10:06 p.m., South Springer Road and Riverside Drive: Police arrested a 42-year-old female for possession of methamphetamines during a late-night traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle consented to a search, which led responding officers to discover that the suspect – a passenger in the vehicle – possessed the controlled substance. She was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Disturbance

July 14, 12:04 a.m., Main and Second streets: Police made contact with an unauthorized street musician who had attended the Arts & Wine Festival earlier in the day after he refused to leave the festival grounds. Police mediated the situation and the musician eventually left voluntarily.
