Los Altos Police arrested a 34-year-old woman early this morning (Dec. 3) after discovering she was in possession of stolen mail, among other things.
According to Los Altos Police Sgt. Scott McCrossin, an officer approached Renee LeGrande after spotting her near the intersection of Austin and Richardson avenues at approximately 4 a.m. The officer later determined during the course of his conversation with LeGrande that her explanation for being in the area at the time “just didn’t match up,” he added.
Police later arrested LeGrande after finding her in possession of mail stolen from several homes, as well as stolen property taken from a nearby unlocked vehicle. McCrossin added that she was also in possession of burglary tools at the time of her encounter with police.
LeGrande was booked into Santa Clara County’s main jail on charges that include possession of stolen property, petty theft and possession of burglary tools. Her bond was set at $12,000.
