The clothing and jewelry art of Lindy Lopez of Los Altos will be available for purchase at this year’s Fine Art in the Park show.
The Rotary Club of Los Altos’ 38th annual Fine Art in the Park show is scheduled 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 18 and 19 in Lincoln Park in Los Altos.
Local interior designer Lara Pai serves as artist coordinator for this year’s event. She has developed relationships with dozens of fine artists over the course of her design career.
Pai and her team of seven jurors screened an array of new artists for the show, selecting a record 70 new participants.
After contacting fine-arts organizations in San Francisco, Carmel and Los Angeles for recommendations, Pai instructed the artists to submit representative pieces for evaluation.
Pai created a new accolade this year – “Jury Featured Artists,” recognition for the 35 artists who received the jury’s top votes. The jury based its selections on uniqueness, scale, use of color and use of materials, especially in mixed media. Blue and gold balloons and stars will designate the award-winning artists’ booths.
Current and past mayors of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills will select and present the blue-ribbon Mayor’s Choice Awards to their favorite works of art and publicly honor the artists.
Three Los Altos artists are slated to exhibit their work at Fine Art in the Park:
• Terenia Offenbacher uses mixed media on wood panels with found objects to create portraits in Modigliani style.
• Stephanie McClean paints contemporary landscapes with a focus on California open spaces and parks.
• Lindy Lopez specializes in textiles.
The Rotary Club’s Young at Art competition will display winning entries from students at six local high schools at the gazebo in Lincoln Park. Carol Garsten, owner of Nature Gallery at 296 State St., is scheduled to recognize winners and their families at a reception 6-8 p.m. Friday, during the monthly First Friday event. The Rotary Club will honor the winners at an awards ceremony May 23.
In addition to the selection of fine art for sale, Fine Art in the Park will feature entertainment and a food court.
Lincoln Park is located at University Avenue and Foothill Expressway.
