The fourth annual “Ride the Rails for Relay” benefit is scheduled April 27 on the Niles Canyon Railway, 550 Niles Canyon Road, Sunol.
Proceeds support the American Cancer Society and its signature fundraising event, the annual Relay For Life of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. This year’s local Relay is slated 10 a.m. June 15 to 10 a.m. June 16 at Egan Junior High School, 100 W. Portola Ave., Los Altos.
The 90-minute round trip from Sunol to Niles and back traverses part of the original Transcontinental Railroad route. The vintage train is wheelchair accessible.
Choose from three departure times: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Live musical entertainment is slated for all three rides, with opportunities for passengers to sing-along. Train experts will be on board to answer questions.
Participants may bring a picnic lunch to eat on the train or in the nearby park. Snacks will be sold onboard.
Tickets are $25 adult, $15 children 2-12 and free for children under 2. Tickets are valid only April 27 for the specified time.
Free parking is available at the Sunol Depot and the adjacent park.
Tickets are available in advance in Los Altos through Tuesday at three locations: Discovery Shop, 243 Main St.; Cranberry Scoop, 295 State St.; and State Farm, 4546 El Camino Real, Suite B-4.
Tickets are also available from Relay For Life team captains and on the day of the event at the Sunol Depot. Only cash and checks, payable to the American Cancer Society, will be accepted.
