State Sen. Jerry Hill, who represents Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, offers remarks during the League of Women Voters’ “Meet Your Elected Officials” event March 3.
A crowd of more than 100 turned out for the League of Women Voters’ “Meet Your Elected Officials” event March 3.
Speakers included Assemblyman Rich Gordon and State Sen. Jerry Hill, as well as city councilmembers, school board trustees and special district trustees from Foothill-De Anza, El Camino Hospital and the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. The agency, board or district representatives discussed their most important issues.
One common concern addressed the effect of the federal sequester on California’s budget and how it could affect local funding that comes from the state.
“The League of Women Voters of the Los Altos-Mountain View Area believes we are fortunate to have conscientious individuals working for the good of our communities,” said member Norma Schroder. “We appreciate the time these officials spend with the public. We hope we all left as more informed constituents and voters.”
March is “League-a-Thon” 2013 fundraising month, a time when new members are encouraged to join and the league solicits contributions to support the free local event programming.
