Lottie and Henry Burger display their artwork for the upcoming Arts and Crafts Show.
Local seniors from Moldaw Residences, a continuing care retirement community, are scheduled to share their art at an Arts and Crafts Show 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Room G103 of the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto.
Works by seniors in their 70s, 80s and 90s range from paintings to pottery and needlepoint. Among the approximately 20 artists displaying their artwork are former Los Altos residents Henry and Lottie Burger. The Burgers, who moved from Los Altos to Moldaw in June 2010, began painting only a little more than a year ago.
“Neither of us had ever done any art before,” Henry said.
The couple took an art class at Moldaw, first copying other works, then branching out on their own. They continue to take the class once a week and have advanced to painting landscapes.
“We love the camaraderie,” Lottie said. “We’re doing something with our brains, staying involved.”
Moldaw Residences is located on the Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life in Palo Alto.
