Leonard Edwards, a retired family court judge and Los Altos Hills resident, hosted an event last month showcasing San Jose’s Parisi House on the Hill, a nonprofit treatment home for local mothers needing long-term services. The home’s six-month program, which offers moms and their children a safe place to stay while participating in extensive parenting and health programs, addresses “the most important dyad in our community,” Edwards said. He noted that in family court, he saw a critical need for support services that helped young mothers focus on parenting a child rather than continuing a drug addiction or a troubled adult relationship. The Parisis have provided financial backing for the program as it has grown from eight to 43 beds over the past decade. For more information, visit parisihouse.com.
