Huey Lewis and the News are scheduled to perform at El Camino Hospital Foundation’s second Sapphire Soirée April 21 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, 170. S. Market St.
The black-tie affair, a fundraiser for the Cancer Center at El Camino Hospital, will include dinner, a live auction and an after-party with dancing to the music of Pop Rocks.
Last year’s sold-out event raised more than $650,000 to establish a nurse navigation program that helps patients coordinate their cancer-fighting regimen. With honorary event chairpersons Pamela and Edward Taft donating a challenge gift, it was the most successful fundraising event in the foundation’s nearly 30-year history. The Tafts are reprising their role this year.
The auction will feature items such as two nights in Las Vegas in a Skyloft suite at the MGM Grand Hotel, including dinner at Craftsteak and tickets to “Ka,” a Cirque du Soleil show; a seven-night stay at the Hualalai Resort in Hawaii; a private wine collection management consultation paired with a fine and rare wine dinner; and a Top Gun fighter-pilot experience.
Guests will have an opportunity to “Sip for a Sapphire” and win a gem donated by Darren McClung Precious Jewelry.
Tickets are $500 per person. Sponsorship opportunities range from $5,000 to $100,000.
