Acterra has scheduled a guided 1-mile nature walk noon to 1 p.m. May 22 in Byrne Preserve, 27210 Altamont Road, Los Altos Hills.
Acterra staff botanist Paul Heiple, a retired geologist with knowledge of ecology, plants, animals and insects, will lead the hike.
The nonprofit Acterra signed a one-year contract with Los Altos Hills effective April 1 to organize stewardship activities at open space preserves. Acterra sponsors volunteer workdays to remove invasive weeds and hosts educational and public outreach events. The organization also manages the Redwood Grove restoration project in Los Altos and oversees stewardship at Foothills Park and Arastradero Preserve in Palo Alto.
The walk is free and open to the public.
