Author Goodwin to sign books in Los Altos today

Author and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin is scheduled to sign copies of her new book 3-5 p.m. today at Main Street Cafe, 134 Main St., Los Altos.

Goodwin will be in the area March 26-28 to headline the Celebrity Forum Speakers Series, sponsored by Foothill College. She is scheduled to speak three nights at Flint Center, on the De Anza College campus in Cupertino.

She is a Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer, frequent political commentator and world-renowned historian.

Her latest book, “The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism” (Simon & Schuster, 2013), will be available for purchase at the signing for $35.

Goodwin, a Massachusetts resident, is perhaps best known for collaborating with director Steven Spielberg on “Lincoln,” the film adaptation of her Pulitzer winner, “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln” (Simon & Schuster, 2005).

The film grossed $275 million at the box office and earned 12 Academy Award nominations. Spielberg also has purchased the rights to make a film of “The Bully Pulpit.”
