Participants at last year’s Women Rising event gather at Main Street Cafe to support victims of domestic violence.

WomenSV, the Los Altos Community Foundation’s support network for domestic violence victims, has scheduled its second Women Rising event noon Feb. 14 at Main Street Cafe, 134 Main St., Los Altos.

The date coincides with the international One Billion Rising for Justice event, a day on which 1 billion women and men around the world pledge to confront the statistic that one in three women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime.

WomenSV, in collaboration with the Cardea Center for Women, At The Well and other women’s groups, invites local women and men to join with people around the world to attend the gathering, affirming their commitment to work together toward a world in which every woman and child lives in safety, peace and freedom.

Organizers invite attendees to bring a poem, song, flower or Valentine to share what healthy love means to them: respect, forgiveness, patience, compassion, the sharing of hopes and dreams?

RSVP by Feb. 11 by calling 996-2200.
