For decades, people passing by the photography studio near the Main and First streets intersection would peer through the window at the many frame-bound faces – some familiar – smiling back at them.
Although the Los Altos scene has vacated that location, one needn’t look far to find its new space.
Sheldon of Los Altos owner Eddie Richardson moved his business into smaller digs at 380 Main St.
“It was more congested down there,” said Richardson, who’s owned the business since 1989. “There’s a much better view here. ... Our overhead is considerably lower.”
The affable owner said he’s planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony to remind people of the relocation Oct. 1 at 5 p.m.
Sheldon’s move places the portrait studio nearly next to incumbent Heather Lussier Photography, but their relationship is anything but competitive.
Richardson said because the two offer different specialties – Lussier filling an animal photography niche – he hopes that their proximity will show downtown visitors that the city values fine photography.
“Heather and I are good for each other,” he said.
