PC users group meets
The SPAUG (Stanford Palo Alto Users Group for the PC) will meet be at 7:15 p.m., March 28, at the Elks Lodge (Lodge Room), 4249 El Camino Real.
Meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month. Guests are welcome, and the meeting is free to first-time guests.
The March speaker will be Neil Scott, chief engineer for the Archimedes Project at Stanford University's Center for the Study of Language, discussing "Computer Innovations for the Handicapped."
on First-Main site
The Los Altos Village Association and the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce are combining forces for a joint meeting to hear the input of downtown merchants on desired development for the city-owned site at Main and First streets. The meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m., Thursday, at Los Altos City Hall, 1 N. San Antonio Road, Los Altos. City staff will be available for questions.
The .78-acre site, purchased in 1995, has been the subject of intense discussion among the Los Altos City Council, would-be developers and the general public. Some favor a combination of condominiums and a movie theater while other want a revenue-generating hotel at the site.

Royce Cablayan of Coldwell Banker, Los Altos, has been named the company's No. 9 best sales associate in the world, outpacing 72,000 other real-estate professionals across 45 countries. Cablayan, with more than $120 million in sales in 2000, also ranked as the No. 7 Coldwell Banker sales professional in Northern California. Cablayan was recognized for his achievements two weeks ago at a ceremony in Tampa, Fla.
Sallie Morgan, resident of Los Altos Hills and associate at Fine Homes and Estates Seville Contempo in Los Altos, has been recognized as one of the top 10 producers in the Century 21 System for this past year. Her commitment to the community is evident in her work with the Community Services Agency.
The Changing Times chapter of The American Business Women's Association holds its monthly dinner meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 2885 Lakeside Drive, Santa Clara. The Technology and Society Committee meets for lunch and a speaker at 11:45 a.m. on alternate Tuesdays at the Golden Wok, 895 Villa St., Mountain View.
The luncheon is $7.50 for members, $8.50 for non-members.
