Carol Brudno has coordinated weddings for more than 20 years and since they are her first business love, she opened Something Special, an up-scale gift shop, in downtown Los Altos.
"The wedding day is the most important day in a bride's life, and it takes something special to make that special dream come true," Brudno said. "I lived in Atherton for more than 15 years and became very familiar with wedding receptions on those large estates."
Something Special provides gifts for the entire wedding party: groomsman gifts, bridesmaid gifts as well as gifts for the bride and groom, and always with a personal touch.
"When it comes to weddings, the personal touch makes the difference between a wedding you will remember for the rest of your life or just an ordinary wedding," Brudno said. "The individuality of each wedding makes it so special."
Something Special features the Romance of English style floral design. The shop carries groomsman gifts such as silver business card holders, silver shaving kits, engraved leather flasks and money clips.
Bridesmaid gifts include engraved silver makeup-brush kits, heart-shaped pen and paper weights and silver picture frames.
The different gift collections are displayed throughout different alcoves in the store.
Brudno's experience includes being catering director for Apple Computer and Bon Appétit at Oracle. She has also coordinated weddings at Ralston Hall, Byington Winery, and private estates on the peninsula.
As a wedding coordinator, Brudno is a caterer who establishes contacts that fulfill a wedding party's requirements. She has available dishes, silver, chafing dishes, and other serving needs. In addition she oversees the reception routine.
The store is located at 363 State St. in Los Altos. For more information, call 948-3262.
