Longtime Palo Alto law firm Thoits, Love, Hershberger & McClean plans to open an office at 400 Main St. in Los Altos after construction is complete in November.

A longtime Palo Alto law firm plans to expand into Los Altos.

Thoits, Love, Hershberger & McLean, a fixture in Palo Alto for 65 years, announced July 11 its plans to add a third location at 400 Main St., which remains under construction.

Founded in 1949 by Stanford Law School graduates David Samuels and Warren Thoits, the law firm will retain its offices in downtown Palo Alto and Santa Cruz.

The company cited the visibility and accessibility of 400 Main in its decision to expand into downtown Los Altos. Developer Jeffrey A. Morris’ mixed-use retail and Class-A office space project broke ground in August 2013. Construction on the 31,000-square-foot building at the corner of First and Main streets is slated to wrap up sometime in November.

The building is expected to secure LEED CS Silver equivalent certification.
