The annual display features LEGO creations such as train layouts, Bay Area landmarks, castles, miniature cities and sculptures.

Levy to lead 'Musical Journey' Sunday at Oshman Family JCC


Pianist Frank Levy is scheduled to perform 3 p.m. Sunday at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center Schultz Cultural Arts Hall, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto.

The concert, titled “Musical Journeys with Frank Levy: Animals, Seasons & Other Musical Fantasies,” will feature music inspired by animals, the stars, the moon and other whimsical elements, highlighting the transfiguration of nursery rhymes and lullabies of Ibert, Copland, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Beethoven and Rimsky-Korsakov.

Based on the book of the same name, the comedic play is the stage adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s spin on the Gingerbread Man. It was written for PYT by Dexter Fidler.

The Los Altos Stage Company production of Ken Ludwig’s new comedy, “The Fox on the Fairway,” is scheduled to close Sunday at Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave.

A tribute to the English farces of the 1930s and 1940s, “Fox” takes audiences on a romp that pulls the rug out from under the stuffy denizens of two competing golf country clubs. Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, the fast-paced comedy recalls the classic Marx Brothers’ movies.

Aurora Singers to emit 'Musical Glow' Friday

The Aurora Singers are scheduled to perform a seasonal concert Friday night in Palo Alto.

The Aurora Singers’ “Winter’s Musical Glow” holiday concert is set for 7 p.m. Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto, 505 E. Charleston Road.

Celebrating the spirit of the season, the 70-voice Aurora Singers will perform songs highlighting the joyful sounds of instruments: bells, violins, harps, drums and flutes. Selections include “Carol of the Bells,” “A Peaceful Midnight Clear” and a jazzy version of “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.” The concert will also feature sing-along selections and a post-concert reception with home-baked treats.

'Harps for the Holidays' set for Saturday

Harpeggio Music’s “20 Harps for the Holidays” concert is scheduled 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Los Altos United Methodist Church, 655 Magdalena Ave.

Kentucky bluegrass duo performs Saturday night at Los Altos church

Bluegrass duo Dale Ann Bradley and Steve Gulley are slated to perform 7 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1715 Grant Road, Los Altos. Both sing and play guitar.

The daughter of a coal-mining Baptist minister, Bradley grew up in a tar- and paper-covered shack near Loretta Lynn’s childhood home in eastern Kentucky. She’s been singing professionally since age 14 and has been named International Bluegrass Music Association Vocalist of the Year five times.

Cal Pops' holiday concert set for Sunday at Foothill

The California Pops Orchestra’s annual holiday concert is scheduled 3 p.m. Sunday in Smithwick Theatre at Foothill College, 12345 S. El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills.

Led by conductor Kim Venaas, the 65-piece orchestra will perform a slew of holiday favorites. The program includes “White Christmas,” “The Christmas Song,” “The Toy Trumpet” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” along with music from the soundtracks from “Frozen,” “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Charlie Brown’s Christmas.”

The Pacific Ballet Academy is back with its 24th annual production of “The Nutcracker,” scheduled this weekend in downtown Mountain View.

The story follows young Clara as she falls into a dream where her beloved nutcracker becomes the daring prince and snowflakes dance in a land of snow.
