The Los Altos Stage Company production of Tennessee Williams’ “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” is scheduled to close Sunday at Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave.
A southern tale of greed, lies, desire, repression, death and decay, the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama is widely acknowledged as the playwright’s personal favorite.
Set in the Mississippi Delta, it tells the story of Brick Pollitt – an aging and alcoholic former football hero – his vivacious wife, Maggie, and the struggle to navigate their rocky relationship.
On a hot summer evening, while the entire Pollitt clan gathers to celebrate the 65th birthday of Brick’s father, Big Daddy, the fragile veneer of southern gentility strips away as unpleasant truths come to bear.
Dawn Monique Williams directs a nontraditional, multiethnic cast of Bus Barn veterans, as well as a few new faces. The cast includes Patricia Pitpitan (as Maggie), Robert Campbell (Brick), John Baldwin (Big Daddy), Sheila Ellam (Big Mama), Danny Martin (Gooper), Hannah Larson (Mae), Jim Johnson (Reverend Tooker), Scott Stanley (Dr. Baugh) and Belgica Paola Rodriguez (Sookey).
Shows are scheduled 8 p.m. today through Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $18-$32.
