The Los Altos Stage Company production of Neil Simon’s “The Sunshine Boys” is set to preview Thursday, open Friday and run through Dec. 15 at Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave.
A comedic look back at the golden age of vaudeville, “Sunshine” is the story of longtime comedy partners Lewis and Clark, whose career and friendship came to a sudden and acrimonious end.
After a decade of estrangement, Clark’s nephew persuades the former duo to resurrect their most famous routine for a TV special on the history of comedy. Hijinks ensue as the cantankerous coots try to work together despite their longtime feud.
“Sunshine” premiered on Broadway in 1972.
Karen Altree Piemme, director of the Red Ladder Theatre Company at San Jose Repertory Theatre, directs “Sunshine.”
The production features actors Bill C. Jones (as Willie Clark), Katherine Leyva (Nurse MacKintosh), Al Fischer (Al Lewis), Josh Russell (Ben Silverman), Gordon Meacham (Eddie), Scott Stanley (Patient) and Rene Banks (Registered Nurse).
Thursday’s preview and Friday’s opening-night performance are scheduled 8 p.m. Future shows are slated 8 p.m. Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays and 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays (except Nov. 27 and 28, due to Thanksgiving).
Tickets are $18-$32, $34 on opening night (includes reception with the artists).
