Braden Koch of Los Altos plays the title role in Peninsula Youth Theatre’s “Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich and Takes the Cake,” scheduled this weekend in Mountain View.

Peninsula Youth Theatre is slated to perform “Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich and Takes the Cake” Friday and Saturday at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

The play is based on Adam Rex’s poetry books “Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich” and “Frankenstein Takes the Cake,” which take classic movie monsters and throw in some silly situations and outrageous rhymes.

Rex is scheduled to appear at Saturday’s shows to answer questions and sign books.

The cast features several local residents, including Braden Koch of Los Altos as Frankenstein.

Adapted by Dexter Fidler and directed by Meg Fischer, “Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich and Takes the Cake” opens PYT’s “Stories on Stage” program, in its 17th season. The 45-minute dramatizations of award-winning children’s literature are designed to foster literacy by encouraging young children to read the book, then see the play.

Shows are scheduled 9:30 and 11 a.m. Friday and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $8-$10.

For tickets and more information, call 903-6000 or visit pytnet.org.
