The Los Altos Follies’ retrospective show, Songs for 20 Years!” is scheduled Sunday at Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave.
The Los Altos Follies, the annual fall benefit for Los Altos Stage Company (formerly Bus Barn Stage Company), presents a summer retrospective to celebrate the upcoming 20th anniversary of the fundraising event, “20 Songs for 20 Years!”
The performance is scheduled 5 p.m. Sunday at Bus Barn Theater, 97 Hillview Ave.
The satirical musical revue of modern life and politics features original lyrics to well-known tunes.
Produced and directed by Vicki Reeder, the retrospective features one popular song from each of the 19 Follies shows, along with past performers. Songs include “The Hurry for the Best Parking Spot,” “Dough-Ray-Me,” “Mac’s Tea Room,” “At the Broker’s” and “Old 280.” Roy Lave, John Sylvester and Reeder serve as masters of ceremonies.
“It has been such a treat to revisit parodies written nearly two decades ago and realize how relevant the topics still are,” Reeder said. “People continue to be in a tizzy about parking, housing, the changes to the downtown village, and politicians and celebrities continue to behave badly.”
Looking toward next fall’s Follies, Reeder said, “We’re already putting new songs in our Follies file folder as the current crop of fools in the news are providing delightful fodder for the 20th Follies gala set for Oct. 3, 4 and 5.”
Tickets are $50, $70 for preferred seating. Admission includes a preshow reception at 4 p.m. and one following the performance.
