‘Big River’ runs through Dec. 30 in Palo Alto

TheatreWorks is slated to present the Tony Award-winning musical “Big River” through Dec. 30 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.

Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” comes alive in this musical adaptation. Runaways Huck and Jim, an escaped slave, sweep down the Mississippi River, discovering a friendship that defies convention and defines the American dream.

Robert Kelley directs a cast featuring Alex Goley, James Monroe Iglehart, Scott Reardon, Lucinda Hitchcock Cone and Alison Ewing.

Shows are scheduled 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Dec. 26, 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Dec. 28, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 and 28, and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday and Dec. 30. “Big River” contains mature language.
