PYTs Pirates of Penzance invades Mtn. View

Peninsula Youth Theatre is scheduled to perform Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operetta “Pirates of Penzance” Sunday through May 19 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St.

Michael Champlin directs and Katie O’Bryon serves as choreographer.

“Pirates” is the tale of Frederic, apprenticed to a band of tenderhearted pirates until his 21st birthday. Because Frederic was born Feb. 29 of a leap year, technically he must serve another 63 years. The play blends music and farce, and features merry pirates, madcap policemen and true love.

Performances are slated 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and May 18, 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, 7:30 p.m. May 17 and 1 p.m. May 19.

For tickets ($16-$20) and more information, call 903-6000 or visit pytnet.org.
