The sun shone radiantly Jan. 12 as members of the Los Altos Baha’i Youth Empowerment gathered at Redwood Grove Nature Preserve in Los Altos, CA to plant trees in memory of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newton, CT.

In commemoration of the tragedy, the group planted three Redwood trees and decorated them with 28 paper cranes in memory of the victims. The youth also composed a special song (lyrics below) to show solidarity with all individuals affected.

"The essence of faith is fewness of words and abundance of deeds. We are all the leaves of one branch and the fruits of one tree. Strive then with heart and soul to distinguish yourselves by your deeds."
