Work on San Antonio Road underway
Written by Administrator

A streetscape project for San Antonio Road in downtown Los Altos is underway.

Construction will take place on the section of San Antonio between West Edith Avenue and First Street.

Coordinated by the city of Los Altos, the project is intended to improve sidewalks and crosswalks, and improve aesthetics.

Included in the streetscape project is the widening of the existing sidewalk along the downtown side of San Antonio Road that runs between Main Street and Third Street to meet accessibility standards.

Aesthetic improvements include construction of a 4-foot tall planted wall to screen views of parked cars along San Antonio Road, and re-landscaping of the medians along San Antonio Road between West Edith Avenue and First Street. Additionally, rain gardens will be created in the parking plaza to capture storm water runoff.

Completion of the project is projected for April. Approximately 50 parking stalls in the adjacent South parking plaza that runs along San Antonio Road between Main Street and Third Street will be unavailable during the sidewalk expansion work. San Antonio Road may at times be reduced to one-lane in either direction while the median landscape improvements are under way.
