Los Altos Hills residents Robert and Roberta Kelsch celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sept. 23.

Mutual friends introduced the couple while Robert was in Port Alberni, Canada, competing with the University of British Columbia’s basketball team. After their first meeting, the two went their separate ways, only to reconnect years later at a party.

They have two children, Timothy and Christopher.

Friends and family traveled from Canada, New York and around the Bay Area to celebrate the occasion with a pig roast at the Kelschs’ home.
