The girls volleyball teams from Los Altos and Palo Alto highs have teamed up to host a Dig Pink Rally – intended to promote breast cancer awareness and raise money for research – during their league match scheduled 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Paly, 50 Embarcadero Road.
Fans can show their support by wearing pink to make it a “pink out,” and/or by making a pledge-per-dig at the match. Representatives from Jamba Juice will sell smoothies at the match and donate a portion of the proceeds to the cause. Admission is free.
More than 1,500 high school, college and middle-school teams throughout the country are slated to participate in a Dig Pink Rally in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The nonprofit Side-Out Foundation, established in 2004 to raise money and awareness about cancer through volleyball, initiated the rallies.
