EREPHILE VISAS

Erephile Visas passed away peacefully in Oak Harbor, Washington on November 16, 2013, on her 97th birthday, with her family by her side. Born in northern Greece in 1916, she and her mother along with relatives, moved to Jersey City, New Jersey to join her father, sister and brother, at the age of 8. She enjoyed working in the family deli/restaurant business as the bookkeeper/hostess throughout her life. She met her husband, Peter Visas (deceased) a restaurant manager/owner in Ridgewood, New Jersey and married two years later upon his return from overseas military duty during WWII. They operated several restaurants and raised their family in Fairlawn, New Jersey, before moving to northern California in 1978, a dream they had for many years.

Erephile is survived by her two children Denise Visas-Tyng, married to Michael Tyng of Oak Harbor, Washington and George Visas, married to Brenda Davis-Visas of Los Altos, CA. She had one grandchild, Justin Visas, who was the light of her life. She loved taking scenic rides, playing cards, crocheting, attending Justin’s high school baseball games, Greek cooking and her family. Erephile had been a resident of Los Altos from 1978 – 2011 then moved to Oak Harbor, Washington with Denise and Michael Tyng.

A memorial service was held November 25, 2013 at Holy Cross Orthodox Church, Belmont, CA with internment at the Alta Mesa Cemetery, Palo Alto, California.
