Hot Stove honorees

Four baseball players from local high schools will be recognized at the 30th Santa Clara County Hot Stove Banquet, scheduled 5:30 Tuesday at the San Jose Elks Club. The event recognizes pro, college and high school players from the area. Local honorees include Los Altos High graduate Erik Johnson (Minor League Pitcher of the Year), St. Francis High grads Daniel Nava (Major League Player of the Year), Daniel Descalso (Major League Special Achievement Award) and Michael Strem (High School Pitcher of the Year). Johnson now pitches for the Chicago White Sox, Nava is an outfielder for the Boston Red Sox, Descalso is an infielder with the St. Louis Cardinals and Strem is a freshman at Boston College. Cost to attend the banquet is $50, which includes dinner. For tickets and more information, call (408) 802-3756.

Volleyball clinics

Aloha Volleyball Club, directed by Los Altos High girls coach Peter Kim, has scheduled five, three-session clinics on the basic fundamentals of volleyball. The clinics, open to boys and girls 14 and under, are slated three Sundays a month through May at Santa Clara High. Cost is $40 per clinic or $100 for three sessions. PONY up for baseball
