Denise Natanson-Marcus’ “Bel Marin Keys,” above, is among her more than 40 works of art on display at Main Street Cafe & Books in Los Altos.

Main Street Cafe & Books has scheduled an exhibition of Denise Natanson-Marcus’ artwork through Feb. 1.

The show highlights Natanson-Marcus’ landscapes of California and the West and includes paintings from her recent visit to Santa Fe and Sedona.

Natanson-Marcus, a 24-year Los Altos resident and painter for 40 years, presents a contemporary realist style that captures the beauty of the natural landscape surrounding urban lives. She strives to bring a sense of peace and beauty into the home through her art.

Main Street Cafe & Books is located at 134 Main St. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sundays.

Docent discusses work of Matisse

Fine-arts docent Ellen Harden is scheduled to discuss the “Matisse from SFMOMA” exhibition 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Program Room of the Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road.

Henri Matisse, the French Impressionist and Neoimpressionist painter, is known for his use of color and influence on the evolution of modern art in the early 20th century.

The exhibition, which runs through Sept. 7 at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, is on loan from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art while it undergoes renovation.

Local artist showcases portraits of Jamestown

Gallery 9 has scheduled an exhibition of photographs, “Portraits of Jamestown, Ghana,” by Los Altos artist Bill Scull. The display, which runs through Feb. 1, includes intimate portraits from Jamestown, a fishing village in the West African nation.

Gallery 9 is located at 143 Main St. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
