The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) in Mountain View has scheduled the exhibition “Revealing the Unseen,” paintings and drawings by artists Andy Gouveia and Drew McSherry, through Jan. 26 at the school’s Mohr Gallery, 230 San Antonio Circle.
“Revealing the Unseen” features paintings by Gouveia and drawings by McSherry, both of whom are members of the CSMA faculty teaching on-site classes at Finn Center and in CSMA’s Art4Schools program for high school and elementary students.
The show includes work by both artists that presents a similar process of narration coaxed out of the medium as part of the artistic process.
Gouveia’s paintings each stand alone but together carry a narrative that ends in the world transformed.
McSherry’s charcoal drawings come out of discovery, as the heavy coat of charcoal that is initially applied is erased away, revealing the hero or villain who is at first unseen on the paper.
“We are thrilled to be exhibiting works by Andy Gouveia and Drew McSherry in Mohr Gallery,” said Vickie Scott Grove, executive director of CSMA. “We are so proud that CSMA’s faculty is comprised of accomplished professional and working artists. This exhibition will truly show off the high quality of CSMA arts educators.”
