The TheatreWorks production of “Little Women” opened last week and is slated to run through Jan. 4 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.
Based on Louisa May Alcott’s beloved book, the musical debuted on Broadway in 2005.
Set in mid-1800s New England, the story centers on the four precocious March sisters – feisty aspiring writer Jo, traditional Meg, soft-spoken Beth and vivacious Amy – on their exuberant journey of personal discovery, romance, heartbreak and enduring sisterhood.
The TheatreWorks cast includes Elizabeth Ward (as mother Marmee), Emily Koch (Jo), Sharon Rietkerk (Meg), Julia Belanoff (Beth) and Palo Alto native Arielle Fishman (Amy).
Robert Kelley, founding artistic director of TheatreWorks, directs the play.
Performances are scheduled 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays (except Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1), 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays and 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays. Additional shows are set for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 23 and 30, and 2 p.m. Dec. 26, 31 and Jan. 3.
Tickets are $19-$79.
