A recent grant from Google Inc. has enabled the Mountain View Public Library to establish a tablet loan service.
The goal of the pilot program is to introduce the public to new technology and experiment with accessing library services and other information via tablets. The tablets can be checked out for use in the library or at home.
“The public’s use of technology is changing. More and more people are using mobile devices,” said Library Director Rosanne Macek. “This technology is clearly having an impact on how the public accesses information and will certainly have an impact on public library services in the future. Because of the generous grant from Google, we are pleased to offer this new service to help the public learn about this technology.”
“We are committed to giving back to the Mountain View community and are excited to have had the opportunity to contribute to the library’s tablet pilot program,” said Caitlin Adair, Public Affairs and Government Relations at Google.
